Lyrics

A PLACE THAT WE CALL HOME
(© 2007 John Kumjian)

This old house of many years, time has passed it by
Many have been born here, some have even died
Changes upon changes have come upon this place that we call home.

The pine tree in the backyard we planted in ‘65’,
It stood the test of many a storm, wonder it has survived
And the old barn has crumbled, aged upon this land that we call home

CHORUS
For sale, an opportunity, upon the market fair
An old home with property in need of loving care
Come by, make an offer for the twenty acres here
A place that we call home.

Mother passed away last year, father died this spring
To the local banker it didn’t mean a thing
Pay your mortgage, or lose this place that you call home

Others come from miles around, the offers come and go
Neighbors just keep to themselves they don’t want to know
That soon there will be new folks here, changing the place that we call home

INSTRUMENTAL
CHORUS

People start to move away, like we knew they would
Now there is a condo where the old barn stood
But that pine tree we planted still stands near the place that we called home.
